SERVICE INFORMATION – January 2007
David
Howard Ltd - Payroll Services
David Howard Ltd who provide payroll support to many Direct Payment
users in Surrey have recently written to all their customers asking
them to complete a ‘Direct Debit Instruction’ form which
would allow them to collect the fees for their payroll service directly
from customers bank accounts.
Whilst
some Direct Payment users may wish to pay the fees for their payroll
service in this way SILC would like to advise that there is no requirement
for David Howard Ltd customers to pay by Direct Debit and if anyone
wishes not to pay by Direct Debit they should not return the form and
should continue to pay their invoices in the usual way.
In
the same letter David Howard Ltd also says that they require customers
to verify their account details by providing a copy of a recent bank
statement along with some form of proof of identity. SILC has checked
this and would advise that this is not a legal requirement and customers
are under no obligation to provide this information.
If
you require any further information or advice on this matter please
contact the SILC office.
